WVGS SPRING & FALL SOFTBALL - GENERAL INFORMATION

SEASON OVERVIEW

The focus of Spring Ball is competitive play along with player development.  Fall Ball by contrast is more fun play and basic exposure.  All games are played on Saturdays in Spring and Sundays in the Fall, and the practice schedule is set by your team Manager.  Practices are generally 1-2 times per week, but can increase with the older divisions and decrease with lower divisions. All managers and coaches are volunteers.

REGISTRATION FEES

Please see our home page for registration fees.

Each player will receive a uniform (jersey and socks), a trophy or medal, yearbook and team pictures.

*REFERRAL PROGRAM

If your daughter refers new players, your daughter will receive $20 in free snack shack tickets. This referral offer may not be used in combination with any other league offer.  Referring a sibling or family member does not apply.

PLAYER EVALUATION (formerly “tryouts”)

Evaluations are held for both spring and fall season for 8U to 17U players. Please schedule your time by using SignUp.com, with a link located on the WVGS.org website received after enrolling.  During registration please complete your daughter’s skills self-assessment. We will use the information if your daughter cannot make either evaluation day for any reason.

FAMILY VOLUNTEERING

Each family is required to perform two – three-hour volunteer shifts in the snack shack in the spring season. If you have 2 or more daughters playing at WVGS, you do not do more volunteer hours than the basic requirement.  A volunteer “buyout” is available during registration for $125 in Spring and $50 in Fall.  After the season has started any requests for buyout in Spring go up to $150 and $75 in Fall. However, for families that do not perform their 2 x 3-hour volunteer requirement in Spring and 1 x 3 hour volunteer requirement in Fall, they will be billed $150 at the end of the season, and will not receive a trophy, yearbook, and will be ineligible for Heat play.  Please do your part to support volunteering at WVGS.

HEAT ALL-STARS

Following the Spring and Fall season, we will have an All-Star “Heat” Play program. These All-Star teams compete with other USA Softball Recreating leagues.  In the Spring, they go through a tournament sequence beginning with Districts.  From there, they can go to State and even National tournaments.  Spring and Fall Heat teams are selected for 8U, 10U and 12U divisions. There can be up to three teams per division, depending on the number of players. 6U All Stars is only available in Spring/Summer.

ADULT BACKGROUND CHECKS

If you plan on coaching, managing, scorekeeping, or being a team mom, you must register yourself during registration. ASA rules require that any adult that has contact with the team needs to undergo a background check. If you would like to manage a team, contact headofdivisions@wvgs.org as early as possible.
