WVGS TOURNAMENT TEAM PLAYER INFORMATION   SUMMER 2025

WVGS TOURNAMENT TEAM PLAYER INFORMATION – SUMMER 2026

At the conclusion of our Spring season, WVGS puts together Tournament Teams for all divisions. These teams start practicing in early May, and play tournaments from the middle of May through the end of July. These tournaments are played against other leagues in Southern California.  If you would like to be considered for inclusion on a WVGS Tournament Team, please read this application carefully and complete the interest registration.

Being selected for a tournament team is an honor, but more importantly, it's a major commitment. Teams typically practice  2-3 times per week, and tournaments are scheduled to start in May 2026 and may take up virtually every weekend through the end of July 2026.

Tournament Dates (8U through 12U):

  • REGIONALS - JULY 17-19 (Pending Qualification)

* Please Note – It is very important to list ALL possible conflicts for any dates in May through July when registering your player.

Please understand that the slot you may take is a slot that another dedicated and qualified player will not receive. Games are typically on Saturday and Sunday, but Friday games are possible. Should the team qualify for State, Regionals, or Nationals championships, they could travel out of state.  In addition to your time commitment, the average cost per tournament player is roughly $425.00+, plus cost of uniform.  This amount includes tournament fees & one practice shirt.  This does not include uniforms, food, travel, or lodging expenses, which may be incurred depending on tournament location.  Scholarships are not available for Tournament Team play. WVGS must send all teams that qualify for States or Nationals or our league will be penalized next year.  Please make sure you can meet the financial obligation before committing to a team.

Selections for "Gold" and "Silver" teams will be made on May 3rd and notifications will occur shortly thereafter.  If a player withdraws from a Heat Team after the roster has been selected, she is ineligible from All-Star consideration for 1 year.

WVGS fields  teams  in  the  6U,  8U,  10U,  12U divisions (providing there  are enough  interested  players/managers).  Some  divisions may have enough qualified players for a "Gold," "Silver," and “Bronze”  team. West Valley is targeting 1-6U, 2-8U, 3-10U, & 2-12U teams for this Heat season.

Teams will be selected on May 3rd and tournaments will start as soon as May 8, 2026.

Please be sure to list ALL conflicts you may have between 5/1/26 - 7/31/26 and email all-star coordinator the conflict dates.

***6U Heat ends June 8th.***

The  managers  in  each  division  vote  to  place  the  majority  of  players on to  each team.  The  league's  focus  is  to  put together  the best overall  teams for  tournament  play.  Attitude,  dependability,  dedication, sportsmanship,  experience  and  overall  skill are all  important factors in selecting  players  for  our  Tournament  Teams.  Although  previous  experience  may  be  considered, prior participation  on  a  Tournament Team does not guarantee a spot  on  any future team.  Current enrollment on a Select team does not guarantee a spot on a Heat team. A complete set of the Tournament Team Selection Rules can  be  found on our website at www.wvgs.org.

TWINS/SISTERS

If you have daughters that are twins or sisters within the same age group, please notify below whether you wish they be selected on the same team (if they are selected as Heat players.)  Please note if the twins/sisters are selected separately between the Gold and Silver teams and the parent wishes them to be on the same team the twin/sister initially selected on the Gold team will be placed on the Silver team.  If one twin/sister is selected on either the Gold/Silver team and the other is not on either team, there is no automatic placement of the non-selected twin/sister.  Please identify during the registration your preference if registering twins/sisters.

UNIFORMS

Uniforms will be the same as 2025. Any new players to HEAT will need to order jerseys and a new equipment bag ($120 + $20 embroidery fee). 6U DOES NOT need to purchase a bag. Existing Players will be able to order new or additional jerseys, socks or other Heat apparel through the WVGS Online Store.  Jerseys will need to be ordered by early May to ensure timely delivery from the vendor.  Each jersey is $32.50 and each player is to purchase two jerseys (one white and one black) if needed.  6U only needs to order ONE white jersey if needed. During the player registration process, please include your player’s preferred jersey number. Players may need to change player number.  Priority for number goes to the player that has been playing in league the longest.

Each player must have black softball pants, red Bellalete pants, red, white, and black socks, and an ALL white helmet.

JERSEY AND APPAREL SIZING WILL BE AT THE FIELDS ON SATURDAY, 4/25.  You will not need to pay at this time, it is only for you to know what sizes to order when ordering online.

ONLINE PLAYER REGISTRATION

To register a player for consideration for selection to Heat team, you will need to register the player online at the league’s website WVGS.org.  There is no payment required to register.  Heat fees are expected to be $200 for 6U and $425 for all other divisions which will need to be paid after the teams are selected and again will be done via the WVGS Online Store.  All players will be required to provide a copy of the player’s birth certificate while signing up for the interest list.

Is your daughter a pitcher or catcher? Would you like to have her considered to be automatically placed on the Silver Heat Team? If so, please respond to allstars@wvgs.org in writing prior to May 2.

Please note, we cannot guarantee placement on the silver (or any) team. Automatic placement means the player will be given the opportunity to pitch/catch; however, the position must still be earned throughout the Heat season. There is no guarantee of playing time. A pitcher or catcher that does not want to be considered for automatic placement on the silver team will still be eligible to pitch/catch if she makes a Heat Team.

Can I choose my team? Some divisions may have enough qualified players for both a "Gold" and a "Silver" team. A player may NOT choose which team they are placed on.

Are volunteer shifts required? Yes. Each HEAT player’s family will be responsible for one (1) two hour snack shack or field prep shifts during the Eso tournament weekend and the weekend of C  District. We understand you may not have a family member playing in C districts, but a snack shack or field duty shift will be required If not completed during the Eso tournament.  We will be requiring one $150 check that will be returned after completion of snack shack or field maintenance hours. You can also buy out your shift in advance for $200.00

By adding your daughter’s name to the interest list on www.wvgs.org you are acknowledging that you have read this letter of intent and agree to the time commitment. If you have any questions, please email Tim Van Der Valk, WVGS All Star Coordinator, at allstars@wvgs.org.
