WVGS REQUIREMENTS
BATTING HELMETS
ALL batting helmets are required to have a face mask and chin strap.

FIELDER'S FACE MASK
West Valley Girls Softball has made it mandatory for all pitchers to wear protective face masks. WVGS believes this is a step in the right direction to protect our players.
WVGS will supply one face mask to every team. Face masks are also available at your favorite Sporting Goods store for those who would like their own mask.

SOFTBALL CLEATS
Standard rubber softball cleats only. Metal cleats are NOT allowed at West Valley Girls Softball.
JEWELRY IS NOT ALLOWED!
Remember, players are NOT allowed to wear jewelry during games. This includes earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. This is an ASA Rule. Umpires will not let any player play if they are wearing jewelry.
There is only ONE exception, Medical Alert Bracelets. Per the ASA Rule Book, "Medical alert bracelets or necklaces are not considered jewelry. If worn, they must be taped to the body so the medical alert information remains visible."
ASA BAT REQUIREMENTS
Must bear either the ASA approved 2000 certification mark or the ASA 2004 certification mark as shown below, and must not be listed on an ASA non-approved list.
Must be included on a list of approved bat models published by the ASA National Office; Or must, in the sole opinion and discretion of the umpire, have been manufactured prior to 2000, and if tested, would comply with the ASA bat performance standards then in effect.
